Assessment of the Necessity and Feasibility of Online Ticket Reservation from Transportation Companies
Main Article Content
Abstract
With the rapid growth of information technology and the increasing use of the internet and smartphones, many traditional services have shifted toward online systems. In Afghanistan, however, ticket sales for transportation companies are still largely conducted through traditional, in-person methods. This leads to several challenges, including overcrowding, time wastage, lack of price transparency, and difficulty for users in accessing accurate travel information. The objective of this study is to examine the necessity and feasibility of developing an online ticket reservation system for transportation companies in Afghanistan. This research is field-based, and data were collected through questionnaires. The study population includes intercity transport users and transportation companies. For this purpose, data were gathered from 140 users of transportation services and 50 transportation companies. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistical methods in Microsoft Excel. The results indicate that most users face issues such as overcrowding at ticket sales centers, time wastage, and lack of transparency in pricing. The findings also reveal that a significant number of respondents own smartphones and are willing to use online systems for ticket reservation. On the other hand, many transportation companies show interest in adopting digital systems to improve ticket sales management and enhance customer satisfaction. Overall, the findings suggest that implementing an online ticket reservation system can play a significant role in improving the quality of transportation services, reducing congestion, increasing transparency, and saving users’ time. It can also provide a strong foundation for the digital transformation of transportation services in Afghanistan.
